Sreeramula Rajeswara Sarma was born in 1937 at Ulichi, now in Andhra Pradesh, to Sri Sreeramula Subrahmanya Sastri and Srimati Sreeramula Sakunthalamma. He is married to Dr. phil. Renate Sarma; they have a son, Ananda Vardhana Sarma, LL.M.
